There is a long standing personal issue I have with this because over the years I have either tried to go to Comdex, CES or Black Hat and each time, even if it was going to be on my own nickel, my employer made a point of expressing to me that I shouldn’t go. Even when I had vacation due or could justify it for the benefit of the company! In a way nothing was said overtly but because of each situation, it was communicated very subtly but the point was clear.

Well I am a contractor now and I am going…PERIOD.
