HTC TyTN 2.0 - Windows Mobile 6 Professional

When I originally purchased my unlocked Orange m3100 which is the same device as the HTC TyTN (Cingular 8525), I had very high expectations. Unfortunately, the device was buggy and I used it only because I had to, not out of any sort of enjoyment like I would with a device that was working as expected. The biggest complaint I had with this device was there were no plans to offer an upgrade path to the new version of Windows Mobile - Windows Mobile 6 Professional. Knowing that this new version resolved some of the nagging issues with this device, I felt like I had purchased a paperweight in the form an obsolete unit.A resource that I watch pretty routinely is XDA Developers. Some of the mods they do to devices are incredible. It just so happens that HTC announced that they will in fact be upgrading the TyTN to Windows Mobile Professional in June and I was able to upgrade my unit yesterday. The unique thing about XDA Developers is that they basically take the ROM image that is issued and mod it by taking out all of the junk you won’t need or use so that it is a fast running custom image of the OS without the bloatware. I happened along a great guide to upgrading the TyTN with a custom image called “Black Diamond”. The guide is very thorough and explains how to flash your device uinder Windows XP as well as Windows Vista. This is definitely a good read for anyone interested in updating their TyTN with the latest Windows Mobile Goodness.

A phone is not for enjoyment. Sports are for enjoyment. Exercise is for enjoyment. You are prime example of what is wrong in the world today. People look for enjoyment in material things instead of other people (and we wonder why people are so angry).
It is a PDA, a PERSONAL DIGITAL ASSISTANT, not a vibrator.

Let’s be frank, this is your opinion and you do not decide what is enjoyable for someone else. Period. If they find a phone enjoyable, well hell, by all means, let them enjoy it.
