New notebook required…Liking the Sony FZ.
If you are a consult or work on contract, hell work period for that matter and travel, having a good notebook is priority requirement. Ideally, the smaller the better and long battery life is a must. I have looked at several manufacturers (Lenovo, Sony, Dell, Alien Ware) over the past few months and I’ve decided that my key criteria are performance and aesthetics. The device should do what I ask it to do without there being any delay in response after a command is initiated (i.e. virtual machines or games) as well as looking good while doing it. I also prefer to have some sort of HD built in like Blue Ray or HD-DVD as well an HDMI connection.
So far, I have become really taken in interest in the the Sony Vaio Notebooks. They are slightly more expensive but they look damn sharp, especially the new TX and FZ series due out in June. This will be a desktop replacement for me but I will also travel with it so a device with a 17″ screen is out of the question. 15.4″ max is tops. I am also looking at Dell’s XPS notebooks but I do not believe they have a 15.4″ version, just a 12.1″, 17.1″ and up.
