S3 Sleep states in Vista

This is not a security topic per say but from time to time I will post hardware and software related IT items. With all the uproar over notebook power management with Vista. this article sheds some light on a power state that I was unaware of. It is called S3 and is new with the introduction of Windows Vista. Essentially, with it enabled, the notebook will be in like a “super sleep” mode drawing only 2 to 3 watts of power while appearing to be off.
